Focussed, hard working, and independent thinking research engineer has wide experience in chemical and environmental engineering. I have strong background in design and engineering beside a considerable experience in modelling and simulation of various engineering problems. My work experience extends from environmental based engineering processes in soil and aquifer remediation to water and wastewater treatment and membrane separation technologies and its application in seawater treatment. I also have practical experience in design and run pilot and bench scale units. Beside the practical experience I have good knowledge in modelling and simulation water and waster water biological processes using ASM’s models. Good to work within a team or as in my own initiative.

I have few published papers in desalination, wastewater and soil remediation as well as a number of patents and intellectual properties. I have good computer skills and have experience with a number of software including, WEST, ROSA, IMS, GPS-X, Biowin, OLI Stream Analyzer etc.

• 27/02/2008 till present| Doosan Desalination R&D Center, UAE
Research scientist is Doosan Desalination R&D center in Dubai, UAE.
I1. Hybrid system configuration and optimization. Integration and modifications of thermal and membrane system including NF pretreatment for scales removal, RO integration with thermal and membrane plant in hybrid plant.
2. RO membranes modeling and design. Using simulation software for RO plant design and performance optimization. Pilot plant design and operation. RO hybridization with thermal technologies and optimization. RO plant design. Reference design RO/NF pilot plant in Korea including P&ID pretreatment MF/UF. Design 1000 m3/d Pilot plant NF/RO in S. Korea, design 100 m3/d pilot plant at Surrey University-UK, design 60000 m3/d BWRO plant in Iraq and feasibility study for 100000 m3/d plant in Iran.
3. Scales prediction in thermal processes. Developing a new method of scales prediction in thermal processes. Design and development of mechanical scale removal device.
4. Thermal systems (MED and MSF) hybridization and modifications

11. Osmotic energy for power generation and it is application in water desalination. Optimization of draw solution concentration and membrane type to maximize osmotic gradient through the membrane and reducing the effect of concentration polarization.
12. Solar Ponds application in water desalination and power generation. Research in maintaining the salinity gradient through the solar ponds with the potential of increasing the peak time of energy extraction from solar pond system with conjunction with other renewable energy sources.

1. Project Sharq Dijla: Water treatment plant phase 1. Plant capacity is 62000 m3/d using conventional water treatment process. Estimated project cost is 40 million Euro.
2. Project Shat Alarb BWRO: Brackish water treatment plant. Plant capacity is 58000 m3/d. Project cost is 15 million USD
3. Feasibility Study of desalination plant: SWRO plant to produce high quality water for petrochemical applications and comparison with thermal technologies.
4. Water Reuse project, Saudi (under examination): 25000 m3/d wastewater treatment plant followed by LPRO membrane for effluent purification.

• 04/2006 till 27/02/2008 Surrey Aqua Group (Part of Modern Water Company), Chemical engineering department, University of surrey.
1. Water and waste water treatment and membrane separation techniques. CORA research and Development centre. Water, wastewater and saline water treatment using different membranes separation techniques including NF and RO membranes. Optimization the separation process of various ions from different composition feed solutions. The project is conducted on pilot plant based in Surrey, the UK. Different membrane modules such as spiral wound, flat sheet and hollow fiber membranes were employed in the pilot plant to investigate the separation efficiency and energy requirements of each module. The main commercial membrane suppliers are Filmtec, Koch, and Toyobo. Supervising a research team of 2 PhD students. Part of the project is invested to investigate the forward osmosis process in seawater desalination and power generation. My duties include analyzing and reporting the results, scientific paper preparation and writing, patent appraisals and proposal and finds critical solution for the membrane separation problems. On daily basis I am responsible for pilot plant operation, membrane cleaning and maintenance, membrane replacement (if required), supplies management and orders, liaison with the various companies to cover all the requirements of the pilot plant. The research also aims to develop energy efficient and cost effective methods of membrane separation treatment.
2. Capacitive deionization technique for water and wastewater treatment and industrial effluent treatment. Working on a pilot capacitive deionization unit using carbon aerogel to removal impurities from water and wastewater, and brackish water treatment.
3. Forward osmosis process application in seawater desalination and treatment. Also using forward osmosis in wastewater treatment to develop more energy efficient system for water reclamation and reuse.
4. Forward osmosis process design and modifications.
5. Sustainable energy sources: theoretical studies on osmosis energy and solar ponds to utilize the sustainable energy source for electrical power generation and seawater treatment.
6. Hybrid desalination: Thermal and membrane desalination process. Investigation the efficiency of hybrid desalination plant and cost effectiveness. Pilot plant study at Surrey University
7. Solar pond desalination: renewable energy for water desalination.
8. Osmotic energy for water desalination and power generation. Cora Center works with STATCRAFT in Norway in optimizing membrane characteristics for enhancement of water flux through the membrane and increasing the process efficiency. Osmotic energy modeling and experimentation. Calculation of net energy recovery from osmotic system using different draw and feed solutions.
9. Membrane distillation process: design and experimentation. Hybridization of membrane distillation process with other desalination process for better water recovery and system reliability. Identify major problems in membrane distillation technologies and trouble shooting.

• 08/2005 till 04/2006 University of NSW Sydney, Australia.
Research fellow in water and wastewater pretreatment using Vibratory hollow fibre techniques.
1. The research is on behalf of Sydney Council.
Research and development methods of water and waste water Centre, UNSW. Working on pilot plant project investigating the efficiency of hybrid vibratory submerged hollow fibre membranes in water and wastewater treatment. A Selection of MF membrane was used to separate colloids and particles from synthetic wastewater and activated sludge. Water, industrial effluent, and waste water treatment. Duties include supervising a final year students, plant operation and results reporting.
2. Process design and modification to optimize the membrane separation efficiency.
3. Acid sulphate soil treatment and management. A research project sponsored by NSW council to investigate methods of acid sulphate soil treatment and management. Supervising PhD student and providing advice in soil treatment and management. Find engineering solution for acid soil treatment.

Techniques of soil and aquifer decontamination, School of safety Science. Techniques of removal metal contaminants from soil using EDTA-enhanced electrokinetic process.

• 11/2004 till 2/2005 University of Brighton Brighton, UK
Post Doctoral (land decontamination). Reviewing the efficiency of different decontamination technique such as soil oxidation, surfactant and co-solvent aided electrokinetic process, bio slurping and vapour extraction on soil and aquifer remediation. The work included Phase I, II and III land management and remediation. In Phase I a desk study is conducted included site visit, contamination history and risk assessment. Phase II involves sample collection and analysis and identification of risk linkages. In Phase III land decontamination is carried out. Writing reports about the efficiency and viability of each technique with regard to the type of contaminants and type of soil. Different methods of contaminant extraction from soil were conducted. The job also involved studying the mechanisms of waste transports in soil and water, and pollutants fate in the environment. It also investigated the feasibility of electrokinetic in sludge dewatering. The research also investigated the cost-effectiveness of various methods in order to maintain the economy of the decontamination approach.

Visiting research fellow in water desalination techniques, CORA centre. Researcher in evaluation of different desalination techniques including MSF, MED, Electrodialysis, capacitive deionization, RO, and Forward osmosis. The position includes RO plant design and cost estimation compared to thermal desalination technologies. Investigate different pretreatment options for RO plant and compare cost saving of each option. Investigate new desalination technologies such as forward osmosis and its feasibility in commercial desalination application.

A research project to investigate the efficiency of electrokinetic in the removal of inorganic soil pollutants (copper, nickel, cadmium and zinc). A case study of estuary contamination from a refinery site was conducted (phase I). The project included soil sampling from reduced saline sediments near a refinery site in Southampton (phase II). Soil desalination and metal removal was conducted under extreme reduced sediments. The project investigated the effects of soil organic and inorganic substances on contaminant metal removal from soil by electrokinetic process. A number of soils were studied include saline sediments, London clay and kaolinite soil. Contaminant extraction from soil was achieved using different soil digestion methods. Soil stabilization using iron pan.
