Painting, Insulation and Refractory Inspector – ADGAS – ( Abu – Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company : Das Island - Offshore
Present responsibility :

Inspect all the plant equipment and pipe work within the LNG Plant, Utilities and off plots areas to provide quality assurance and quality control of all ongoing plant painting, insulation and Refractory program. Coordinating with Maintenance on all ongoing and new painting work, insulation and Refractory projects.

Perform comprehensive plant survey in order to initiate preventive maintenance plan and inspection for painting, insulation and Refractory related work.

Providing an overall back up service evaluation of the durability of all paintwork, Refractory work and insulation systems applied and the use of specialized equipment for painting/coating inspection and interpretation of results as conducted within the LNG Plant

a) Inspecting and assessing the condition of protective coatings and insulation applied to LNG Plant and equipment at the required frequency. Assures conformity with the Company’s technical painting and insulation specifications and codes of Plant Inspection, and compiles written reports on findings along with recommendations. Issue repair recommendations to user departments.

b) Maintaining comprehensive records on the overall condition of protective coatings and insulation on Plant and equipment. Prepares and performs corrosion surveys with regard to ongoing maintenance paint, Refractory and insulation program.

c) Carrying out inspection on both a daily and periodic basis, to all Company and contractual painting works up to final acceptance and hand-over. Checking and recording coating and insulation performance with regard to retention periods.

Draw up technical specifications to promote and arrest and control of corrosion by high performance protective coatings and insulation with regard to various methods of surface preparation and specialist application procedures

e) Preparing reports on observations and interfaces with the Corrosion/Metallurgical Engineer and/or the Head of Corrosion & Inspection. Address problematic areas of concern for analysis and remedial action.

f) Providing specialist services for ongoing and proposed future painting, insulation and Refractory program; the latter with specific regard to internal vessel coatings, jetty splash-zone areas and protection for environmentally exposed concrete.

g) Carries out other similar or related duties as assigned.

h) Liaise with NDT Specialist on insulated Hot/Cold pipe lines/static equipment insulation.

i) Inspection and monitoring of refractory condition in the Sulphur recovery unit equipment like Main Combustion chamber, waste heat boiler, incinerator, stack and line heaters and recommend remedial actions. Recommend Refractory material required for the shut down, review and approve contractor Refractory execution method statement, ITP, Dry out procedure, checking refractory material condition, reviewing material technical data sheet and material safety data sheet, qualifying refractory equipment, applicators, inspect all the stages of refractory lining, sample testing and recording.

Field joint Coating for 48” Concrete weight coated pipe at National Petroleum Construction Company, DLB-1000 pipe laying Barge at Das Island. PROJECT: 48” concrete weight coating pipes for the TB-6 Gas Distribution line.
Position: Client Inspector (ADMA – OPCO )-TPI-Coating/Painting /Insulation Engineer-Inspector.

Client QA / QC Engineer - Inspector for ADMA-OPCO (Abu-Dhabi Marine Operating Company) through Bureau Veritas.

1) Over 20 years of experience in the field of Protective Coating / Painting / Hot and Cold Cryogenic Insulation / Refractory lining and Fire-proofing for Oil and Gas Industries, Refineries, Thermal Power plants.
2) Review of Project specific QA / ITP / System Procedure, Technical evaluation and advising and assisting contractor.
3) Witness, review and approve PQT for major projects and contractor progress monitoring.
4) Internal Audit work. 5) Quality related activities reporting on Daily, Weekly and Monthly basis. 6) Issuing site Memo and NCR in case of discrepancy. 7) Conducting Tool Box talk for the coating/painting activity.
8) Explaining the Hazard involved and the control measure to be taken.
9) Maintaining History card for the painting equipment and arranging maintenance schedule. 10) Keeping track on the calibration of the test instrument and equipments. 11) Inspection of pre blast cleaning works.
12) On site inspection of abrasive blast cleaning, Surface profile measuring and comparing with standards as per specification requirement.
13) Recording climatic condition (relative humidity, dew point, and substrate temperature.
14) Testing of blast cleaned surfaces for the presence of various soluble salts and also quantitative measurement of salt densities on the surface by various methods (Bresle, SCM 400, etc)
15) Control of paint film by measuring wet film thickness using comb gauge. 16) Measurement of Dry film on Ferrous and Non-ferrous substrate by using electro magnetic and eddy current gauges respectively as per referenced standards (SSPC -PA- 2, )
17) Inspection of Zinc silicate primer cure (MEK Rubbing test)
18) Testing of chloride content in abrasive (Garnet)
19) Performing tests for adhesion by pull of tape and Dolly tester.
20) Inspection of holidays of tank internal coatings, buried coated pipe lines, wrapped pipes, etc
21) Inspection of Paint storage condition. 22) Preparation of coating failure analysis reports for new and old coatings. 23) Preparing Daily Painting report.
24) Training the crew on Quality and Safety aspects required in the painting / coating, Refractory and Insulation activities. Reviewing Contractor Method statement, ITP, issuing comments and approving
25) Allocating work and monitoring painting / coating, Refractory and Insulation activities. Insulation and Refractory material selection, receipt inspection, on – site process control and Inspection for the Insulation and Refractory work in various stages of installation. Inspecting in process QA/QC requirements.
26) Interfacing with all levels of the management. 27) Problem solving and investigation of failure. 28) Managing team of Sub-Contractor and multinational work force.
