CV/Resume Details
1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

Communications engineer

I have worked in large and small teams throughout my career.

Working on various voice systems and structured cabling networks. Customer focused on issues with fault repair details to appointment meetings with customers anywhere in the UK. Organisation timing, planning and customer awareness has always been very important.

I hope as an experienced telecoms engineer, that I have some useful skills to transfer over to a position on the rigs.

I believe that I have excellent customer handling skills, which are a combination of common sense and good manors to help resolve a problem.

I have a technical mind, and I have worked with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook (as a user). I have good communication skills; I can write reports analyse data and interact with customers. Listening to clients problems can be one of the hardest things to do, but if the fault or issue can be resolving then that customer will be happy,

I realise that I may need to cross train, but I am a quick learner and would be more than happy to jump at the opportunity.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

Work Experience

My work experience has followed the voice industry for the last 18 years.
I have always been keen to learn and view my thoughts logically. Treating others with the respect and the same way I would expect people to treat to me. Please read some of the issues and problems that I have worked on in my telephone career.

Identified a capacity issue with the number of Agent ids that were available to the bank for their call takers. With no feedback when users were leaving, the capacity had reached danger levels. I identified this, set up and audit to recover old or unused agent ids and suggested that only 1 agent per person was issued. This practice was introduced in November 2003 and still running to this day.

Help new users with the different telephone features, and help with the users voice mail procedures. Every phone in each department has a cover path (an efficient way to pass calls when the member of staff is away from the desk) this requires a co-ordinator and information to update and keep each department current. This work can be the difference between connecting and losing a customer…

Users were logging in the call centre on the wrong or old agent ids. This required proof and help from the users with a constructive conclusion. With a best work practice policy I advised the bank to remind agents, the correct agents and call master details are need to successfully handle calls for the bank.

Working as part of a team on a major modem audit. This was to stop unauthorised people from plugging in laptops/Personal Computers to a modem, and dialling out with out authority. The audit started with over 300 modems, we whittled it down to 78 authorised modems with approvals and the correct justification forms in place. This is a rolling process with a sign off each month.

Implement a site log for each building, containing switch information capacity extension number and contact details for site maintenance personal. Train other users in equipment that was familiar to myself, the ISDX, Avaya and Meridian phone systems.

Help the salesman with customer consultancy meetings. Advise if the requests were possible. Set up a storage tape safe for the voice recording tapes. This had to be backed up each week.

Work Experience (cont)

Cambridgeshire Constabulary Police Headquarters

Work on the Y2K project, which proved the systems by their serial numbers was Y2K compliant. Work as a department on the migration of the control room, to a new multi-million pound purpose built control room. This could not fail, or be made common knowledge. As I was leaving, help with the migration between 2 phone systems.

Saved the force £26K, by advising not to lease the lines to a new helicopter base. This saving helped to keep the budget on line for the helicopter. A vital piece of surveillance equipment was going to be removed to pay for the lines.
I received a commendation for 2 items. One was a kidnapping in Cambridgeshire, where my service was required in setting up an incident room for an out of force crime squad. The other was for an armed hostage seize in Peterborough, a forward communications vehicle was needed to resolve the incident.

Various other projects that I have worked on have been setting up numbers to be broadcast on crime watch; this was for a gold robbery on the A1. The number had to be linked to the team of detectives working on the case in a stand by incident room. And the other example was of the break out from Whitemoor prison of the IRA prisoners in the mid 90`s. I was on standby to support any police response. When they were rearrested, our department did a radio evaluation of the site for internal and external radio strengths and advised how the Police radio can be improved.
