Gulmar Offshore Middle East LLC – Sharjah UAE 2008 - Present
Assistant Project Manager
Derrick Pipe-lay Barge (LB 1) ‘Pelican’ (new build)

Inspect and supervises construction on Britoil Offshore Shipyard in Batam Indonesia of derrick pipe lay Barge LB 1 (Pelican); equipment installing and start up commissioning (Cat engine 3606, water maker, sewage plants, air compressors, anchor winches including mooring system, ballast system, pumps, pipe lay system, crane), accommodation furnishing. Also for installing of DP system with five retractable thrusters on Starboard side (modification).
I was given the responsibility of managing and supervising all mechanical works during the construction and equipment fitting including making sure that subcontractors follow the construction schedule. My responsibilities include dealing with the Project Manager and to provide him with daily reports of the job’s progress as well as the estimate budgeting and planning.
I am also involved in the monitoring the materials and equipment supply, to ensure tight schedules are met. Together with other Assistant Project manager of other divisions as well as the subcontractors and shipyard, we conduct daily planning of job including safety issue to make sure minimal disturbance and safety of everyone involve. Some time also together with Design engineers review some drawings because are not suitable with field reality. During my working career, I was also involve in someway or another with the responsibility of other Assistants Project manager (structure and electric) when they were away.

Derrick Pipe-lay Barge (DLB 2) ‘Enterprise 3’ (new build)
Responsible for managing and supervising all mechanical works during the construction and equipment fitting out for a new build Derrick Pipe-Lay Barge including making sure that sub-contractors follow the construction schedule.

• Nantong China Shipyard for building phase
- Conducted daily planning meetings with other Assistant Project Managers of other divisions and the subcontractors and shipyard to review progress of job as well as safety issues to ensure minimal disturbance.
- Liaising with the Project Manager and providing him with daily reports as well as the estimates on budget costs and planning.
- Monitoring the materials and equipment supply, with all parties involved to ensure tight schedules are met.
- Meet with Design engineers when necessary to review drawings and design aspects not considered suitable or practical for field operation.

• Xiamen Shipyard for installation of crane
On completion of construction, the barge was transferred for the installation of a Huisman 800 Tons crane, responsibilities included -
- The planning and supervising of the installation process and to ensure that all procedures meet with stringent offshore requirements.
- Involved in crane lift up, alignment to the crane tub, set up the crane and crane load test 880 To (crane capacity + 10%) for be certified by GL.
- Ensured that all Barge certificates meet ABS standards, including Main switch board (for engine), Inclining test as well as other offshore requirements.

• JSML Singapore shipyard for installation of mooring winches (final phase)
- Responsible for supervising the installation of mooring winches and re positioning of pipe-lay equipment.
Saipem SPA - Caspian Sea – Kazakstan 2007
Barge Chief Engineer - Ersai 1 Project
Worked on Ersai 1 work barge with Demag 12000 crawler crane for pile installation, Menk 17oo hydraulic hammer, Delmag 200 diesel hammer, operate the ballast system (working condition for this barge is grounded in shallow water) and others equipments.

National Petroleum Constr’n CO - Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. 2003 - 2007
Barge Chief Engineer
Responsible for the repair and maintenance of equipment on the various company barges and for planning and coordinating the mechanical and electrical teams carrying out the work.
• The NPCC barges included SEP150, SEP 250, SEP 350, DLB 750 and DLB 1000 which were in Ship yard ASRY Bahrain for dry dock repair: steel plate replace, pipes, valves replace, pressure test of piping and tanks.
• Worked on jack up barges with different types of jacking systems (De Long, Baker Marine, National) and derrick cranes e.g. 1120 ton Am Clyde
• Coordinated re-certification including load test for 1120 to Am Clyde crane and 270 to American crane.
• Acted as Assistant Barge Superintendent for heavy lift jobs (lifting preparation including equipment and lifting gear inspection and lifting operation)
• Managed the converting of a cargo barge (CB 3) into shallow water pipe lay barge. This included structure reinforcement for exposed loaded area, design, equipment selection and procurement, equipment alignment and fixed (pipe lay system, mooring system, power generating equipments) and sea trial.
• On barge DLB750 I was involved to replacing the existing pipe lay system (CRC pipe handling system with Western gear A&R winch and tensioners) with Remacut pipe line system (2 x 125 tensioner and 260 to A&R winch) 6” – 60” pipe size, from selection of the system and design on barge to installation, certificates issue and sea trial.
• With barge SEP 350 I was supervise the major repair in Sharjah ship yard. This barge was involved in Dubai dry dock accident in 2001 and was waiting for repair still 2005 when was send for full repair in Sharjah ship yard. Before barge be send to ship yard I was involved in selection and procurement for all new equipment for replace the old one, like power generators, air compressors, pumps, fuel purifier, oil water separator, water maker, mechanical workshop equipment,… Also I was involved to supervise major repair of jacking system and install on barge after barge return from ship yard, including legs installation.

Drilling Jack-ups - “ATLAS” in the Mediterranean Sea,
and “FORTUNA” and “ORIZONT” in the Persian Gulf.
Responsible for planning of all maintenance of the drilling rig equipment and the coordination of the mechanical engineering team for repair and maintenance of the equipment.
• Jack-up Drilling equipment includes - engines, mud pumps, centrifugal pumps, air compressors, degasser, draw works, traveling block, crow block, Varco top drive, blow-out preventers, air and hydraulic winches, power tongs, monkey board, rotary table, mud agitators, shale shaker, cementing units, jacking system, cantilever system, etc.
• Involved in the total refurbishment of the “ATLAS” Jack-up in 1995 which involved the replacing of failing equipment including the centrifugal pumps, mud agitators, air compressors, rotary table and a major overhaul of the diesel engines, the draw-works, the mud pumps.
